The music makes it

There’s the soundtracks you here and instantly hunt down, the cult classics. The tracks that shape generations: A Clockwork Orange, The Warriors, 24 Hour Party People, Quadrophenia, The Beach….

Then there’s the soundtracks you don’t notice. In the background. Intensifying the moments, adding that little bit more. And making a great film, an unbelievable film. Leon (Eric Serra), Man On Fire (Harry Gregson-William), Gladiator (Gavin Greenaway), Blade Runner (Vangelis), to name just a few of my favourites.

Soundcloud favourite track (1) Jeff Woodall – My Isolation

I have had a relentless amount of emails and tracks placed in my ‘dropbox‘ since announcing the ‘Soundcloud favourite track’. So thank you to everyone who has made their music talents known to me. Soundcloud have also announced support so thank you! Any tracks sent so far could be featured in any of the forthcoming posts, so keep an eye out!

However for the first Soundcloud favourite track, we have a fitting dedication to the style of music i enjoy the most… Jeff Woodall – My Isolation.

Hailing from my local Hertfordshire, self-taught producer Jeff has written 10 albums to date, spanning New Age and Chill. Not the most epic of introductions to music; Jeff was recommended he take up music after taking a ‘tone’ test at school. Since then, influences such as The Orb, Aphex Twin, Brian Eno and Moby have helped craft Jeff’s sound into what it is today.

Featured on his latest album, Chasing Shadows. the track chosen is called ‘My Isolation’. Upon immediate listening, it resembles early Jon Hopkins. Soothing piano’s and progressive drums. This track is perfect chill-out and is hard to fault.  A fitting first ‘Soundcloud favourite’? Let me know. Check it out, chill out, and enjoy.
